Well summer has certainly arrived in Boone, NC and it is hot, hot, hot! All the Glad Girls have been searching to find the perfect summer outfit that we can easily wear to work, dinner or just out and about. I think its safe to say that through collaborative effort and much "trial and error" we have officially decided that maxi dresses are now our official summer staple. We saw them grace the runways during New York spring fashion week and have been excited to put our on spin on them ever since. We have been amazed at how versatile and suitable they all for all body types. Even the most skeptical have converted by their magical ability to elongate the body.
Here are a few simple rules we try to follow when picking out the perfect maxi....
1. Chose a suitable fabric. Cotton is the most daytime friendly, and silk is a little dressier for nightime or a formal occasion(great for summer wedding season).
2. Pick a color or pattern. Remeber horizontal stripes always make you appear wider!
3. Chose a more fitted maxi if you have a petite frame, an A-line tends to look best on a smaller person.
4. Never be afraid to try a belt with it! Who doesn't need a little cinching at the waist?
4. Accessorize yourself! Anything goes with a maxi, so feel free to have fun layering necklaces or wear that large cuff that has been sitting in your jewelry box.
